(bio)chemical engineering or similar? And are you looking for a challenging
internship starting between April-September 2024 for a duration of 4 to 6
months? Cosun RD&I offers you an interesting assignment!
What are you going to do?
Pectin is one of the main constituents of plant cell wall which can be extracted from sugar beet
pulp and further be utilized in various applications. In your internship, you will investigate the isolation of pectin from sugar beet pulp using an enzymatic process. You will optimize process conditions on lab-scale, study subsequent modification and analyse the isolated pectin. Subsequently, you will test the functionality of the isolated pectin for novel food/non-food applications.
Who are you?
You are a 2nd year MSc university student, with affinity for biobased economy in general and green process development in particular. You are studying (bio)chemistry, (bio)chemical engineering or similar. You are available for an internship or graduation thesis, for the duration of 4 – 6 months.
Furthermore we ask:
A pro-active, independent attitude and drive;
Fluency in spoken and written English and/or Dutch
Knowledge of- and experience with MS Office (Word, Excel and Powerpoint)
Where are you going to work?
Cosun RD&I is the knowledge and expertise center of Cosun, situated in the Cosun innovation center in Dinteloord. Cosun RD&I provides services to the Cosun business groups and their customers by sharing its know-how and experience in a wide ranges of (R&D) competences. With this knowledge, our colleagues at Cosun RD&I help to coordinate and initiate research and
development Cosun wide. Additionally, Cosun RD&I works together with the business groups to develop new and innovative applications of biomass. Our Cosun innovation center facilitates in experimental set ups for process analyses, research laboratories, a pilot plant and our very own bakery, for testing new concepts.

During your internship you will be located at our Cosun innovation center in Dinteloord (located between Breda and Rotterdam).
